Many years ago I got tired of all the BS and CB rambos and made a decision to pull my radio out of my truck for good.
That was back in 2002 and I haven't looked back.

I miss talking with level-headed people out there sometimes. I've also heard in the past that people are not really talking on the radios these days because they're busy with their phones.

We know that the disrespect has gone out the window in the world and truck driving is no exception so I'm guessing nothing has really changed in the CB radio world either.

So my question is, is it worth putting a CB radio back in your truck these days or is it the same old, same old?

    Thanks Drivers

    It’s worth having

I hardly ever hear anyone on it though

but mine is equipped with an on / off switch and volume control .

if someone with a huge amp gets annoying I just turn it down or off .

I agree with @roundhouse I see a need for a CB, or at least its a useful tool but, mine stays off or down about as much as audible. When people start getting stupid or skip starts rolling, it goes down or off until I remember to turn it back up.

I agree, there is not many people on it much anymore. There are some brief conversations on there occasionally. But mostly either skip or quiet. I squelch it down until that's out & ride.

Its really good to have in backups etc. But most of the time you're up in it before anyone says anything. But at least you can eventually get an idea of how long, what lane, etc.

I never turn mine off. I may sometimes turn the squelch very high to filter out some random mud duck in the desert, but if a station is very close to me they might still punch through

I drive with mine on all day. And maybe once a week somebody says something useful on it.. Or i can have a conversation with someone... Then some rambo keys up because they wanna be heard then I turn it down.... Thats usually when a ttr member passes by me going the other way :biggrin_25523:

Less drivers using the Radio more using cellphones to communicate

Mine is always on, but, very rarely hear anyone. I regularly throw out a traffic/bear report and get no response. Then, I get to wondering if my radio even works. Haha. It’s definitely changed.

Handy in bad weather or unforseen accidents on the road ahead. If you get the usual dickheads running their mouths then just cut it off until you need it next time. I do sometimes enjoy the late night entertainment at certain truck stops after a long day.

I consider anybody who does not have a radio and know how to use it to be a rube. A novice
