I won't do hazmat, so that saves me money on insurance I'm sure...also, my agent outsourced it to some company that is supposedly one of the "biggest commercial truck insurers" (her words not mine) and that's why I got such a good rate. It includes cargo, liability & physical damage. Also keep in mind that the quote is for an older truck, a 98 Freightliner.

    HwyPilot,

thanks for your input, any suggestions help.
For my situation, I will be local,500 mile radius, most of the time for now. I could be running futher than 500 miles at any time and I was told they could rewrite the policy mid term for the mileage change.
My quote I received is for full insure. of my truck, trailer, and cargo contents.
The maximum limits are high,I would have look the limits up. I had chosen higher limits, but not the highest.
Unless I find the same coverage amounts that would cost me less money, I'll stay with that company.

    Thanks again,

    crusin :biggrin_25517:

Keep in mind that 500 radius is as the crow fly's. I started out with Progressive and did Ok. Also, when I was insured with them they allowed you to go out of radius for a total of 4 weeks a year and could buy more weeks as needed. Not sure if they still do that.

I kept my nose clean for a year then everyone wanted to sell me insurance which I did get and that was that.

    Meathead,

    Thanks for the map.
Yes, I intend to do the same as yourself, keep my nose clean for 1 year then shop around if needed.
The company I'll be working with has accounts that will be assigned to me and other O/O's within that radius.
    Mostly from my area,to Boston,NY,VT,NH,Conn. Ohio,Maine,etc.
Mostly the major cities within the map you had shown.

    Thanks,

    crusin
For me as of right now, It'll work.

You know, whenever insurance companies come up with that "500 mile radius" crap, they could at least give some extra room for those of us near a coastline! It would be more like a 250 mile radius in my hometown! Either that, or buy a fishing boat LOL.

Ha ha ha. Ya, I know what you mean. 500 miles is a lot of distance. Keep in mind you can be at the edge and travel 1,000 miles to the other edge.

If Progressive still allows you to go out of radius for 4 weeks you can do really well. I bought extra weeks for $200. Just make sure you think about it before you call to say your going out of radius. You don't have to use a week. You can use days at a time. I got 28 days total for free.

Get to the edge of your radius, then call. When you get back to your edge of radius, call and say your back so you don't use anymore time then you have too.
