Having voice mail and an unlimited service contract are both helpful too. I DO NOT answer a call unless I recognize the caller's ID. If a "unrecognized" caller has something that important to talk to me about, they can leave a voice mail, then I decide if I'm gonna call back. I have all my contacts assigned an "alphabetic" name, e.g., my son's NAME comes up, my ex-wife's NAME comes up, my sisters' NAMES come up, etc.
