A good test of a new hand is: Tell him to pull a battery. No rollers or changing table. Piece of cardboard, piece of 4x4 oak (good), 8 feet of log chain (with circle hooks to make it easier) another lift available with good long forks. Oh, ear on one side is pretty well rotted, but a hammer strike shows solid underneath.
So, you lay the cardboard over it to keep the log chain from shorting it when you drop it. Position your lift and its forks over and in near position estimated.
Drape the chain over the forks and hook in eyes, snug up some. Take the 4x4 piece and space it underneath the forks to keep the chain spread half of battery width. Snug and wedge till you feel all set. Gently apply lift and you may:
Raise it up safely and can move it away.
Jerk the bad ear on off.. (separate lesson)
Lift capacity is 3K, battery weighs 3500. Lift rises...
You are finally rigged and easing it up, LPG runs out.

Takes about an hour to master the technique, but then boy... You get to do all the battery swaps...
(Alternate: This is from da rear, can side saddle it using another short piece of 4 x 4, and run the chain parallel with forks...)

The shaft wood or ceramic? Either; very nice, worth updating. Why not go 3 way socket?

We are at the bottom of the attack zebra zone . Went from Nice and clear to Blizzard in couple minutes. Wind blowing like 5 000 mph. Got a creative spot in the truck stop. Hopefully clears up tmrw
