Unions are bad. Just like all beaurocratic entities, they start out with the best of intentions and perform as planned. However, at one point, that vision is lost and they become parasitic entities that are self serving and undermine the industry they were formed to protect.

Eg. UAW - They're ridiculous. You think an employee deserves full pay after a lay off? Full benefits? Remember, the more you charge the parent company, the more they have to spread that costs. If the consumers can't afford to buy the product you make, you're out of a job anyway.

UAW cannot maintain that balance.

Prison Workers Union in CA. They have a $10 Billion budget and the average salary is in excess of $100k. CA is a failed state. That's part of the reason right there. CA Democrats are giving out more than they bring in.

Steel Workers Union - Same thing. They're pricing themselves out of business and driving up the cost of steel. Look in PA. How many plants are shut down? Did you know that China makes more than 2/3 of the WORLDS steel? Guess who USED to hold that title. THE USA.... Our steel is too expensive...wonder why that is.


Free market. Greedy capitalist put us on the map. Their supposed greed lead them to create, invent and extablish great things. You think people do it for free?

Last question... Have you ever received a job from a poor man? I doubt it.

You embrace your socialism in the form of a union. I'll take my GED and make my own path in life. I don't need the Government or a Union to make my decisions for me. If an employer treats me bad, I'll leave and go somewhere else. And I won't be crying about it. I've not had it better than anyone here. I come from a racially divers background which is worse than being pure of one race or another. NOONE supports the "mulatto" boy. Folks divorced early, we were on food stamps and all that...blah blah blah. But I'll be ###### if the govt is going to support me. I'll do it my self, I'll do it better and I'll apologize to noone.

Time to grow a pair boys. The govt does NOT have your best interest at heart. That's why YOU will always be dependent on them and not the other way around.

First..Rush Limbaugh is a millionaire and gives more to charities than Pelosi and Reed combined. The's one of the top 10 most generous celebs. Oprah is number 1.

He's got multiple contracts sure. You don't have contracts because of YOUR poor negotiating skills. Either that or there are 100 people in line behind you that are willing to work without them. You're a product of the market. Stop ########. Don't like it? Change it. You CHOSE this life with your eyes open. You have the option to go to school, get an education and fix it. I'm sure you qualify for Pell grants that will over pay for school. I got $5500 for school and am going back in my 30's. What's your excuse?

Republicans are as much to blame as Democrats. Very few of either group are of the calibur of my fathers generation. I doubt they stand for anything deeper than their check book. (Mostly) There are some good ones though. We need to seek out and support them.


Brother. I'm sure you mean well. You made good points about taking better care of ones heigene and putting your best foot forward when dealing with customers. but your political views are faulty. Take off your tinfoil hat and do some homework.

I'd advise you go to the library and pick up "Road to Serfdom" by Hayek. He was a economist in the early 1940's in England. That's Churchills time man.... you can't have a better vantage than being right on top of the some of the largest world shattering events of the century.

For a very good reason.
Companies CAN be and HAVE BEEN sued for $MILLIONS because of "log-book" errors; even minor ones, when the accident was the fault of the other driver.

 

Had this driver logged that 30 mile load around Atlanta,,,He'd probably still have a job..Log it as you do it,especially when the truck has a Qualcom,,it shows everything that truck does.Now i agree they should have sent him to his home terminal,but this is trucking,,rhymes with,,,,,,,,,,,,

 

But the "Pig-Man" as you so delicately described him, doesn't need a "UNION" to protect his job, he is a UNION member because he is FORCED to be.
And are you trying to tell me that there are no "morbidly obese, foul smelling, barely literate, racist DEMOCRATS with bad breath"? Especially from "up-north"?

Hell.......if I got fired and dumped along the side of the road, do you think I am going to take the time to "detail" the interior? Especially when the truck was probably issued to me dirty anyway?

On the othe hand, if the relationship between the employer and the driver has gone sour. (cussing, threats, legal intimidation) why do these companies insist on trying to get the driver to go to a terminal? He's angry, he's rolling down the road on company letter head, and he knows when he gets there he's gonna be escorted off the property toot-sweet.

One of these days somebody's gonna do something monumentally stupid (run a trailer into a load of parked trailers) and we'll all hear about it.

If the guy's gonna get terminated anyway, why not ust get him out of the truck ASAP?
