I was set up as an LLC and rather than take an income I invested the profits. Some loss, and some gained, so I always worked it so losses would offset a lot of my tax liability. It's all legal. My yearly tax returns are as thick as a very long novel. I don't pretend to understand everything he's doing. I just know that the IRS doesn't have a problem with any of it, and that's all that matters to me.

Like I said, 25 years with the same CPA, two audits and not a single penalty in all of those years is all of the proof I need of his value to my financial well-being. Don't confuse your lack of understanding with incompetence. My CPA has several multi-billion dollar companies as clients and he gives all of his clients the same attention to detail that he gives to me. The only thing that worries me about him is if he ever decides to retire.

Dont be petty, I give you and therefore him an out and you dont even bother to acknowledge it, 25 years of 2000 $ is 50k just set on fire. Is it a huge amount? No, not really. But its certainly not nothing either.

Please stop pretending that you have a clue how my CPA and I handle my finances by questioning his competence and my pettiness, and I'll stop pretending as if I care what your opinion is on the matter. Deal?

Please stop pretending you arent bothered by my pointing out the very obvious, tax overpayment is NOT in fact a good marker of a good cpa.

Your overbearing attitude and refusal to give a value to what amount overpayment is leads me to assume youve never even thought of it and are too embarrassed to back down. If you enjoy paying the IRS greater than their allotted yearly wage thats your buisness, its just not very bright.

The numbers vary greatly with scale, lets say you "should" owe 25,000 a year, but pay 25,500. Thats about 2% overpayment. But if you were supposed to pay 200k, but overpaid at 202k, thats only a 1% overpayment. If you had a very large fleet it may well be worth considering it as part of the cost of doing buisness at even a higher dollar amount, or even percentage, but why should you come down and enlighten us mere mortals who should be grateful for your pronouncements, the very epitome of words of wisdom. Clearly they are pearls before swine, please forgive this humble dog for deigning to question you.
