No, No,No. please file right away even if it’s only for a few weeks. If their company policy is a direct conflict with state law you’ll win. You can even call safety and rub it in. I hate seeing companies getting away with crap like this.

Texas is an "at-will" state. Employers don't need a reason to fire someone.

    Opus Thanks this.

I’m talking about filing unemployment. If every company that ever fired anyone could say they violated company policy then nobody would ever collect unemployment. I’ve filed, had it denied, and appealed and won twice in my life.

Having some experience in the whole unemployment thingy from the management side of the desk, "terminated for cause, 'accident'," will not get you unemployment.
    Get busy hunting a job.

I'd go for a Walmart driving job. $110G a year and all drop & hook.

It is but still they can’t violate the law by firing someone for refusing to break the law..that’ll get them in hot water…

That's the catch, a company doesn't have to give a reason. The driver can assume whatever they want, but that doesn't mean anything except to the driver.

If they put on dac that they violated company policy, then there’s the catch too…they’ll bust themselves like that and vindictive companies like that aren’t smart enough to catch it for the most party.

Would have been a lot easier to just bought a new $150 mirror and chalk it up to sh@@ happens and forget about.Calling police and going through all this hit and run for $150 seems ridiculous to me. I wouldn’t think the police would have even bothered with a $150 damage.Really doesn’t seem like the whole truth.

And sometimes it's better just to say,
"Man, I woke up and went to pee and get some coffee and when I came back, the mirror was jacked up."
    Say it didn't happen.
