Wouldn't ALL of the Chicago 1099s be full-up with drivers if the drivers they hired were making the money the ads for them claim? They are scams for desperate drivers. There is not a hospital in the country that won't accept payments over time if you DEAL WITH THE HOSPITAL and not the scammy bill collectors that are chasing you/her. Go talk to the hospital's social worker. NOBODY pays the first price that is on the hospital bill. That number is 5-10 times the actual amount of the true cost of the service or item so that if even 1 patient in 10 is dumb enough to pay that amount they cover the cost for the other 9. Don't work for cheaters, they will cheat you.

Owing the IRS can be expensive. The interest is low. It’s the fines and penalties that add up. They audited me 10 mos, after filing. $2500 mistake cost me $4000. Monthly calculated penalties were mostly to blame. Once I contacted them and made a repayment plan, the interest continued, but the penalties stopped. I’d rather owe the Mafia. Maybe not! But a hospital, no problem. Make low payments. After while call and negotiate a one time payoff. May get 50% or more discount.

Medical bills are very negotiable and I’d be a lot lot more worried about owing the irs money than owing it to some doctors office or hospital .

Most medical bills , when they realize they are not going to get paid by an insurance company , get cut in half quickly and then get cut In half again if you pay .

    Make
An appointment and visit the billing department at whatever medical
Center it is and be polite and thankful that they saved her life but be clear that you’re a truck driver and don’t have tons of money but you’d like to negotiate a reduction in the balance and set up a payment plan for the balance .

just make sure when you do pay it all off , you get it in writing that it’s paid in full .

my brother was very Sick and in ICU for three months , he had insurance but a few weeks after he gets out and is home recovering , not even back to work yet , the hospital sends him a bill for a $498,000

like someone is gonna just whip out their check bill and pay that .

then a few months later they lowered it to half that then half again , etc

the hospital adds a zero to the bills so the bills that don’t get paid add up to a sum that’s nearly as large as their profit so they don’t have to pay any income tax .

don’t sweat the medical bills .
It’s not like she owes the mafia money .
They ain’t gonna send Guido out to re break her legs if she doesn’t pay .

I appreciate the input about the hospitals guys. But it's not them who I owe the money to. I had to come up with cash to pay for stem cell therapy treatments at the time we needed them. She had brain trauma and I did what I had to do. Credit cards, bank loans, and to be honest, yes, mafia loan sharks lol. So it's funny you said that Roundhouse. I've negotiated with the banks already to cut those bills in half with no interest and I'm making payments to the loan shark. That's why I said I can't get dicked around with a new job. Need to start fast and get paid in a week. But he's being reasonable.
I'm not worried about the money. I'll make it back. My gf is 95% better now and she'll be able to ride with me soon. That's the important thing.

This is crazy but as I write this I'm sitting at a truck stop in Reno. I just started talking to a driver here by chance. I don't believe in coincidences though. He works for some Ukrainians out of Chicago. He showed me his money...$2,000+ a week and no games. He's been there 2 years. Maybe it was meant to be..

Yellow Freight has free health insurance for the driver and family. It's good insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield. I had it when I had to pay a weekly premium of $35 a week for a family of 4. Excellent insurance.

Union companies; cheap high quality health insurance and a pension after 5 years.
I receive 2 trucking company pensions and all I had to do was 5 years with each company.
Yeah, 2 different unions. I know several people doing the same. Just don't talk to current workers about it. That plus social security some day, plus investments, and you and your girlfriend can live the good life. Don't have to talk about it to coworkers, just keep it between you and your girlfriend.

He always gives good quality advice. I don't just brush his advice off; I take it and pass it on to other drivers.

My thoughts are with your girl man. Here's to hoping she maintains good health. I admire that you will do whatever it takes. As to finding out if these companies are worth the advertising, it's all a crapshoot, especially if they aren't really a name in the industry. You say you want to make the money as fast as possible, and I understand that totally. Your situation is a big one and it will take some time to get it right. Whether you're working for a 1099 or W-2, company, the money ain't gonna come any faster. Fast money only exists on Family Feud. Now that guy that showed you 2000 bucks per week, one guy ain't gonna tell the whole story. Did he tell you many miles he ran? If he's paying his quarterlies, then it's more like 1500 weekly he's making. That's truly about average in this industry.
