I hate to be the one raining on your parade but if its in the truck in your avatar your probably are gonna have a challenge ahead of you of those are the OEM rears
Cause that vintage they are probably 402 rears.. parts for those are hard to come by ..
So now would maybe be a good time to update them
    Just saying

If it moves, run it to a shop or a safe haven. Damage is done but it will only get worse the more you drive. Buy a cutoff with the ratio you want, get the rears checked out and rebuilt if needed, and off ya go.

You’d have a triple digit Truck Lol. Wouldn’t pull hills as good, Final drive instead of being 1500 rpm @ 65 mph, might be 1350. Just guessing at exact numbers. You can use an online calculator to get exact numbers .

I'm understanding you correctly, my rears are 355. At least, that's what the plate says

    I'm about 2100 RPMs at 70 mph

Those rpms seem real high for 3;55s.

Must have a direct transmission. The ones my neighbor has are maybe even 2.79 or something like that. Might just be a good upgrade. Probably give you a great deal on them. At this point, the Trucks going to the scrap yard anyways.
