I just had to. My buddy Sean that’s had 2 jobs in his adult life, 22 years in a submarine patrolling the world thanks to Uncle Sam, and 23 years traveling the country thanks to Abilene, sent me this picture from the Knight yard in Atlanta. Now I see where we get our pointers from. The Apple doesn’t fall to far from the tree.

I can’t believe a tornado only hit that small part of the shop. Hope there were no steering wheel holders injured during the weather event.
MidWest_MacDaddy, 48Packard, JohnBoy and 2 others Thank this. -
Taking one for the team today. Got a HOT LOAD for Brooklyn, due at 6:00am tomorrow. This is a Dollar Tree load, not the usual Boar's Head Brooklyn load (which I have done before). They like us to arrive at Dollar Tree the day before and park on site overnight. But I am not feeling particularly enthusiastic about spending the night on the Brooklyn streets, given that the local citizens can score themselves $50 or so for reporting an idling truck. So I am currently parked at the TA in Elkton with plans to head out at Stupid O'Clock in the morning in order to make on-time delivery.
My trucker GPS is recommending a circuitous route to the location, because the main thoroughfare leading to the address lies underneath an elevated train track. However, after spending some quality time with Google Maps and the NYDOT NYC Truck Route map, I believe I have identified a route which will let me theoretically get an additional 30 minutes of sleep.
Already pre-planned for my post-delivery, playing whack-a-mole with some empty and pre-loaded trailers. Will be dropping my empty and hooking a pre-load in Port Reading, NJ, then dropping the pre-load and hooking an empty in Montgomery, NY, then hauling the empty down to the Hill-Phoenix plant in Chester.
I guess Peanut took the weekend off.Bumper, jarhead0311 and Lonesome Thank this. -
Dropped the dollar tree off then got a ridgeville, sc walmart to mt crawford, walmart now on a hill phoenix to publix in royal palm beach, fl for Monday.

I don't care what the truck route maps and signs say, driving under a bridge marked 12'4" will get your attention the first time it happens. Especially when you hear what sounds like a light scraping noise coming from the top of the trailer.
The NYC truck route map assured me that all the marked truck routes had 13'6" clearance, and it turned out to be correct. But man there were a few spots where it sure didn't look like it.
