I wouldn't count on it being only a couple years old. I'm currently in an '06 Volvo that I got when I started with Swift in Feb '07. It had 140,000 miles then and over 470,000 now and I'm still not in line for a new truck. I've heard of them keeping trucks on the road over 600,000 miles. As long as there's no major mechanical issues, they keep it going.

I hear the front air ride suspension is crap and feels like your bouncing all over the road. I know a guy who bought a former Swift lease truck and it was a Freightliner spec'd with a Detroit, 10spd, and 3.23 rears. I imagine all Swift trucks have the 3.23 rears in them. I heard Swift was getting rid of their Volvo for International. I remember Swift doing this with Freightliner and switching to all Volvo.

1Nonly you should do a thread on how you have survived and flourished at Swift! I for one would like to stay somewhere for a while. Perhaps bring my GF in to team with.

I think they are still going to buy some Volvos. IIRC my GF's son said they are getting them.
AFA bouncing aroungd the road? Don't know. Year ago Ford built the CL9000. It was a smooth riding cabover with air ride suspension, air ride cab, and a self leveling cab. It would ride level on uneven roads. You sat way-way up there in the air!
Some like it, some said you couldn't feel the road. I almost bought one. -
I have seen courteous drivers from most companies, and I have seen discourteous from most. A lot of it is like my dad always said, "I want to," or "I don't want to, and you can't make me." Being happy at anything is largely a matter of what you are willing to feel.
Maybe 1Nonly has discussed the job at Swift. I would like some more information, I have friends that would like to know more, as well. -
I didn't train with Swift, but there are many members here who have and have posted many threads about Swift training. Also, my experience is not going to be the same as anyone else's. But I've met many Swifties who have been with Swift for years and are quite content to stay. I've even met some who worked for other companies for a while and then came back to Swift.
If you have specific questions, ask. I'll do my best to answer and so will the other Swifties here.
I've thought many times about starting a "diary of a Swift driver" thread, but just haven't gotten it started. My truck is down right now, but maybe when I get going again I'll get my patoot in gear and document my day to day experience with Swift.Texas-Nana Thanks this. -

The best thing you can do when you go solo is never turn down a load that you can legally run. You will see drivers sitting in the terminals complaining that there are no loads. They won't take a short load. If you take the short loads you will get a longer run after you finish..
Help your dm by taking the short loads and you will be rewarded.Double L Thanks this. -
