Norfolk Southern Train Derailed After Hitting Truck Carrying Concrete Beam

When I worked for Penske Logistics in the late 1990's we loaded 2 unit trains every night 5 days a week of Roadrailers in Romulus Mi.
1st one, about 30 trailers went to Kansas City to the GM plant there.
2nd one with about 45 trailers went to the GM plant in Arlington TX.
All just in time parts that had been collected from vendors in MI, OH, PA, IN, KY and cross docked in Romulus.

Now the same sort of thing would be done with 53' container on chassis and double stacked.

 

2-3 million per locomotive ?? I would’ve guessed that they were more expensive than that. I would’ve guessed 10 million or more.

He should face substantial punishment for it…parking on the tracks is an absolute no no…the body cam video shows that he was ignorant about parking on the tracks..
