Most are cheap enough that the detention pay is not even near the mileage pay for that time.
And even with detention, those long unloads really mess with your hours - especially if you like to keep fairly consistent operating hours.
Not to mention just finding someplace to park once you get done with that load.

With Dot Foods, it’s nothing like that. I was a no-touch driver. Lumpers are prearranged and paid for, internally. There’s no haggling, searching, COMDATA, or anything else. Simply back into your assigned door and they bring your paperwork out to you or you go in to get it, when the light goes green. There aren’t the long wait times, because they have priority at many customers. There’s a working relationship going on where the receiver is actually buying food from Dot. As part of that, generally, there’s no hassle when that food arrives. I’ll spare the details of how everything works. But, suffice to say, it’s a great way to be in the reefer biz. Also, the vast majority is just DC-to-DC and trailer swaps with other drivers, as a no-touch driver.Driver-John-Doe Thanks this. -
So, where are you headed?

Its been a long drawn out process but I'm in with Swift. I finished orientation and I'm doing yard and simulator training while waiting for the trainer. I was supposed to be in the truck out training for four weeks already but icy roads here in TX forced him elsewhere. He's in Illinois now so I'm doing a week at the terminal training until he is routed back to pick me up.Moosetek13 and ducnut Thank this.
