Grinding low to high range

    Still working on my 18913, and can't track down the problem. It has been grinding when range shift in from low to high, and the splitter would jump out going downhill on the low side. Pulled the auxillary to replace what I thought would probably be the problem. Range synchronizer, splitter gear, splitter yoke, and sliding collar. Also put new o rings in the splitter cylinder. Had already changed the regulator and splitter cap. When I got in there, didn't see any parts that were actually bad. No torn up gears, still had fabric on the synchronizer. Changed parts since I had them. Put it all back together and still having an issue. The splitter issue has cleared up about 50%, but still not completely right. The only other thing I haven't changed is the slave valve. What else can I be missing?

    On the splitter, did you replace both the gears the sliding collar meshes with or just one?

    What are you using for oil in the transmission.

    Changed the splitter gear, did not change the auxillary drive gear. Using 50 wt synthetic oil.

    One other note, the range shift does not grind the first shift of the day.

    A lot of the time the collar and gears the teeth have a bit of a slight dovetail on them, which helps keep them in mesh under torque. Once they start to wear and become parallel or tapered out, torque tends to want to throw them out of engagement. I wonder if the internal teeth of the drive gear are worn out?

    It only jumps out on the low side of the splitter. Unless I looked at things wrong, the cooler should mesh with the splitter gear, and be shifted towards the rear. I replaced both of those.

    Just seems like the splitter cylinder is not holding the collar in on the low side.

    With the range shift grinding, not sure if a slow shift will cause this? Not sure where else to look.

    Just looking at the ratios on Eaton's site, it appears your transmission model's auxillary section is underdrive in low split and direct in high split. I believe that means the collar would be towards the rear of the transmission in low split and then shifted forward in high split.

    Its been a while since I've had a 13 or 18 apart so I'm a bit foggy. I'll tag @Hammer166 since I seem to recall he's pretty good with transmissions.

    With both sides of the aux acting up, and you've already changed the regulator, did you change the filter?

    The only other way I see both sides acting up is a bad bearing letting the the shafts in the aux get out of line, but usually that bad of a bearing is making enough racket you know what's up.

    Did you lubricate the o rings on the range cylinder piston? Those o rings will hang the piston if dry. Also ck air pressure. Didn't read other responses, so maybe already covered
