I have a BIRD #43 that cost a bunch and a http://www.rlham.com/cgi-bin/shop/modellookup.dbw?MODEL=JTWVUHF that cost $125 they read the same on almost every band.

Here is what the Workman looks like ..... installed with my IC-706 a meter like this is way more that you need for CB ...... Bottom line a $20 meter will do you just fine .....

I'd rather have the MFJ antenna analyzer over the Bird meter. It is (as you know) several instruments in one): An SWR meter, an impedance meter, a signal generator, a frequency counter (not the most accurate, but still useful), and a grid dip meter! For non-critical work, it is most indespensible! I don't need no "Bird Watts!" :biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

    MAYBE I'm a old fa** but i use a R-X - 100 noise bridge made by Palomar
It is about 40 years old and will tell me just where my antenna is tuned what the R, Xl/Xc is and didn't coat $300

    But that's ME .....
