Similar happened last December but it wasn't ice, it was 90+mph wind gusts. When the pole broke and tore the service lines loose they shorted across one another and were shooting sparks above the roof according to the neighbor. Luckily a few pieces of melted siding and 6 days without power was the worst damage.

 

You're ex-military.....where was this thing launched from, the Pacific Coast? I'm guessing they can't control them?
