Maybe you should be a broker and a carrier. Broker out customer freight and run your truck on broker freight.

Rideandrepair, bamanation and Siinman Thank this.

It's real hard to negotiate when everybody is so willing to haul heavy tarp loads for $1.50-$2 a mile now.

They are jumping on them loads quick.
    They flying off the board.

Normal brokers that use to call me all the time and I'd run loads for don't even call me anymore.
One of them I called only to find out loads I use to run for $4 a mile just a few months ago they are moving for $2 a mile easily that's why they don't call me anymore. Flat out told me they know I wouldn't run for that so thats why they don't call.

Rideandrepair, Beaver9 and DUNE-T Thank this.

I know a few loads that pay out the butt when this happens. I may have to take a few of them if I can get a fe days off at home and they are still available.

I was shocked seeing so many Texas 2 Texas loads paying for flatbed paying 1.80.... Hence why I'm wondering the low rates? Where is the free fuel stops????

Yep. I was down there yesterday. Lot of work to find a load out of texas i was willing to take. Was about to give up and bounce home. Brokers and shippers know everyone was stuck down there and desperate to leave.

    Rideandrepair and Siinman Thank this.

In normal times when bad weather hits freight doesn't move, things get backed up and rates go up.
    These are not normal times.

Rideandrepair, ducnut and Siinman Thank this.

Soo many flatbed drivers are scared of the cold and stay down south and work for roller dog money during the winter.

Sound of them just got stuck in ice for a week in Texas while hauling those cheap loads lol fitting.

By monday it will probably be that way. Yesterday the roads were still a mess and all the loaders were at home sleeping all day.

Rideandrepair and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

That $400 TQL 300 mile load might be bumped up to $500. Nice

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.
