over the years I've seen a lot of comments on this forum from drivers mentioning how they would never recommend anyone get into trucking. Lot of comments like, "I would disown my son if he started to drive a truck."
So...what do you all think is a better alternative?
Most schooling is a borderline scam in today's society where there simply are not enough jobs for whatever one studies. Jobs in the same class as trucking such as dockwork suck. Office workers at trucking companies make less money than company drivers. I never understood why people would rather work in an environment where the boss can look at them all the time.
So what do you recommend? bartending? Phlebotomist?
If you don't recommend trucking then what?

All those drivers complaining about how awful trucking is, wouldn't do anything else. It's all talk and no action. They don't take their own advice.

I do not/will not recommend today’s joke of a slave labor industry to anyone...And it get worse by the day...you talk about 6 figures available...but very few and far between(and yes I do make over 100k-/part time semi retired
But I’m not talking about me
When you quantify the time spent ...it’s still barely above minimum wage...add the excruciating cost of living on the road...lack of decent facilities etc...it doesn’t begin to add up
Especially considering the amount of $$ available at any skilled trade today...
Trade schools...industry training programs abound.,.plenty of work well over 100k on 50 hours or less 5 days a week home every nite...Lav-25, Jubal Early Times, Flat Earth Trucker and 10 others Thank this. -

Years ago when I was in the Navy, was hitchhiking trying get home. A Poole Truck Line driver picked me up. I told him I'd like to be a trucker some day. He said don't do it, it's a horrible way to make a living. Trust me, you don't ever want to be a trucker. Find something else to do.Vampire, Another Canadian driver, Bean Jr. and 3 others Thank this. -
