What Thing(s) Improved Your Trucking Experiences

I know, right? My wife just put two of them on the school bus about half an hour ago!

 

Depends upon Trailer. I pulled 45', 48', 53' Spring and Air Ride Dry Vans and Skateboards.
One Local Company had WORN OUT and TORN Curtain Side Trailers.
Never again pulled Curtain Side.
Never ANY interest in Tankers, Parking Lots, Step Decks, Extend Decks.

Never met anyone named Miles.
I learned how to "adjust" acquired Mileage with 2 Comic Books.

Company paid for Fuel & Repairs. I paid with waiting and MY cash was Mine, not Company. Get Burned ONCE By Company, Never again.

Not On Any Road I worked. Sharing negative & positive events in person as well The C.B., Restaurants, Shippers/Receivers, Truck Stops' Game Rooms equaled increased LEARNING. Whining and Moaning alleviated negativity.

I don’t want to rain on your parade here, but truckstops are no where near what they used to be. It’s a shame.

 

Depends what you are looking for I'd guess. I'm sure many miss sit down restaurants and lunch counters. But many like the wider variety of food choices now. Healthy food too.

There's a coffee cup fuel stop near me I used to frequent often. Was a basic truck stop with a small driver's lounge with TV. Burgers and sandwiches and deep fried food. Loved it! Now it's been remodeled into some high class travel plaza with gourmet coffee. Still good food but otherwise not my scene anymore

 

It’s not just the food. But the all around atmosphere is different. There are some modern updated stops that are nice, but they are few and far between. I understand why they have changed, the industry as a whole has changed. There are some great advances but I still miss certain aspects of the old way of doing things too.

Theres nothing at all better now about Truck Stops .. NOTHING .. the big corporate owned truck stops have run or bought out most all the others .. They are unfriendly.. over priced where you have tp paid to park in their Is demolition derby toxic waste infeasted parking lot
As far as heathy foods ... Walmart or a grocery store sells healty foid 60% cheaper than any truck stop.. always has

 

I’m not buying the healthy food line either because I can’t think of one that has healthy food. Even subway is full of more salt than a mineral block. And looking at drivers today versus 30 years ago ain’t nobody buying that healthy food. But then again, it could have been all the caffeine, nicotine and Benzedrine that kept those old cats so slender.

 

There's a little ts around the corner from this place with a nice bathroom.

Fresh hot chicken sandwiches and wedges for $6.

I sure as hell don't buy into the healthy food crap either .. I stay the hell outa the big TS .. and fuel at the whats left of the mom & pop TS or the Convenience quick stops .. but once in a whel I darken the doors of a couple of Loves.. Idon't eat heathynever have .. but when I walk by and see the price of 1 apple or banana and see that want 7.99 for a premade salad that won't fill up a 8 year old's empty stomach .. I just grab my 2 rollor dogs and Monsters and walk on.

 

I remember when I started driving in the 80's you'd see them.old boys come outa the Restaurant at the 76 TS maybe weighted a buck fifty had nicotine stains betwen their fingers and 1 burning & a thermous of coffee and a carton of smokes when they climbed up the steps on their cab over and their face s looked like sun dried leather.. They would push the brake button in and get back after it
Now days they waddel across the Peelot in sweat paints & a yellow stained tee shirt & flip flops weighing 400. And their face looks like its a over inflated ballon that could pop at the blink of a eye and their. headed back to the Volvo that they need a chair lift to get in to play on their PS 5
I'd much rather be the wrinkled up shoe string from yesterday
