Do mixer trucks have jake brakes?

The crazy old man who made Diesels in trucks a viable option. Nice to know management back then were just as big as idiots as they are now.

 

Have yet to see a 12-16L sized engine built in the last 20 years without a jake. Always figured it was standard equipment.

 

All the mixers I drove had either a Jake or Mack's dynatard…..

But these were old school DM 600s

 

My 359 with ISM did not.

Anteater with cat did not either.

 

On the trucks I drove they all had a jake brake pacar and the Cummins in the Pete garbage truck style cabs

 

If the truck was built before 2007 with an ISL or an ISM it will not have a Jake Brake. 2007 and later models received the Jake Brake, IIRC.

 

Go to your shop. Ask the mechanic, politely, if your truck has a jake.
Don't be afraid to ask questions. Don't guess at things, especially when you're green. Find out for sure.
