Well , I remember but what I started at was considerably less than what he could expect . That's why I said ask those that started 10 -15 years ago . He doesn't think I'm serious .

    1) .49cpm X daily miles vary, for me it averages to about 375 miles a day

    2) If you stay local, you'll get between 40-45 hours per week@ $23

    3) hours worked and hours paid are the same even for OTR as we get unloading pay as well as pretrip/posttrip and fueling.

    4) i'm averaging 2000-2400. 2900 and above, which is rare, would be considered high.

    4) quite often; i'm home at least 23 days out of the month even if only for a few hours. Local drivers get home everyday and some of the higher up drivers with regional routes are home everyday as well.

i barely cracked 50K last year, which i'm not too happy about---will elaborate in another post. The only upside to all this, if there is an upside, is that i hardly worked to earn it. i will post my W2's and tax returns as soon as i scan them in.

If you read through the posts there are alot of answers that are pretty specific to what people have made and are making now. When I started I made 26k (I think) my first year and I thought that was pretty good and thats probably in the ballpark of what someone starting out today would be making but it's hard to pinpoint because there are so many variables involved. Now I make between 50 and 60k depending on how hard/much I want to work. 50+ hours a week and home every night. Could have went a different avenue and made more but wanted to try what I'm doing now (tanker) because it's something I havent done before. Anyway
it looks to me like people have been pretty open about their biz in this thread.
