Not quite, I sold the business a year ago went to DMV and got rid of CDL the same day. Grew up in trucking and owned trucks for over 30 years. I will tell people till the day I die to stay out of trucking. Government overreach and general downward spiral of society and ########”safety rules”. Nope I work on equipment now only 1 in shop doing major repairs. Leave my job at work and no headaches. I miss trucking about as much as slamming my hand in a door. I mostly stay on forum to see what kind of stupid #### the idiots in DC are proposing.
    For good laughs as well.

Yes, but you made a career out of trucking for 30+ years.

As for airline pilots, there's several on this forum that switched careers to trucking. Most pilots don't really do all that well financially, unless they fly for FedEx, UPS, or a foreign airline.
One said she struggled to make $17G as a regional pilot. She said the fancy clothes and hats pilots wear is deceiving.

For me it was what level of tolerance one can justify. I was a trade for 30 years and didn't like it that much, but struggled to find something to replace it. Education, skill set, confidence, family commitments, financial commitments, same or better money, and opportunity all come into play running your life while trying to find something of interest. Then there is what money you have, or don't, to chuck towards that new career.

Part of it is laziness and acceptance of your lot, the other is the niggle that there is something better out there.

I have done scads of things in my life. Was an army medic. Managed fast food restaurants while I was in college. Computer programmer for 9 years. Owned a print shop for 9 years. My father was a driver since before I was born. Started at this one company in 1940, was drafted in 42, and went back to it after he got out in 1945. Only place he ever worked. He would have shot me if I even hinted that I wanted to drive. Went to a vo tech for my CDL not long after he died and other than a 3 year stint when the VA had me on some anti-itch meds that kept me from driving (was a realtor during this time), never looked back. Im working on 67 now and thinking about hanging it up. Maybe sooner than later if these new speed regs they are talking about take effect before I croak...

Your last post you talked about "government overreach". Now pilot? Are you joking?

I read somewhere that the oldest cave writings ever translated says ‘these kids today are too lazy’.
