Buy a Cummins and buy guaranteed top-end issues. They’re no better.

I will only go to the dealer for dealer related issues. For any engine work it goes to the Detroit shop. Cheaper, faster and better quality service. Same is true for Cummins and cat.

Yep. I always got engine problems competently fixed at Detroit (Clarke Power) or CAT house (Thompson). If it wasn't something easy that I could do they were the only shops allowed to touch my engine. I wouldn't do it any differently if I had a Cummins. Other shops sucked, including dealers, and they never stand behind their work. Engine only shops stand behind what they do but you never have to take anything back to them!

It sucks that Peterbilt is blowing you off on the suspension issue that's complete BS and lousy customer service. You didn't buy a fleet so they don't care. If it wasn't brand new and a warranty issue there's lots of competent suspension shops out here that could figure out your problem and fix it. Depends on where you're at but you do have wheels and can go anywhere you want. T&T in Bellevue, OH is a good one.

You are right .if it wasnt brand new and warranty issue the truck will never see the dealership. But paying 200k for a brand new truck and then 3 months later paying for the repairs for a warranty issue out of pocket defeats the purpose of spending that 200k .I am making sure that this never happens to anyone els. Got 2 news channel on board to run the story and cover the lawsuit. Wrote to attorney general with video proof of everything .Worked my ### off day and night to get my dream truck build and payed close to 200k at end to be treated like a second class citizen.

Have you considered contacting Peterbilt costumer services? I have done it when I purchased a used Mack that was still under warranty and a dealership was giving me the run around, Mack lined them out.

I'll post the unpopular take: sometimes there's more value in just getting something done and behind you, instead of fighting city hall at the dealership for weeks or months while you're not earning in order to get that "free" warranty job. Stow your emotions and focus on solving the problem, in the most expeditious way possible. If you have to pay out of pocket to fix a warranty case, sue them for reimbursement after you get your revenue tap turned back on. Or do the job yourself. If you're capable and not working anyway, you may as well. You won't be the first person ever to handle a warranty matter out of pocket.

It sucks and it ain't right, but definitely less worse than being on an infinite loop at the dealer that isn't getting it done, or putting up with a poorly performing truck in the case it isn't disabled by the fault.

Seriously, at the rate you're going currently, you're gonna give yourself a stroke. Peterbilt won't care about that either.

what if the whole front end need to be replaced i.e air ride springs, axle, kingpins, tires, rims, power steering pump, power steering gearbox etc etc. What if the frame is bent from factory that is causing the whole front end out of alignment. That is not an easy $2-3k job . Labor alone can go up in double digits .I dont have $30-$40k extra laying around to chase a problem and fix it on a brand new truck.and do you think peterbilt will reimburse me that much when they were not willing to give me a rental when my truck was down .

I would at the very least spend the money out of pocket to take it to KC and let Chad give it a once over and see what he thinks. I’m not saying there’s nothing major wrong with your truck, but dealer shops also aren’t alignment shops. Might be worth the few hundred dollars just to get his opinion. And having his professional opinion could also help you as things escalate with Peterbilt.
