I was always thinking my home state Indiana is the best, but I want to get your opinion here. I am driving around the country so I'm somewhere for 25-30 days, I just want to have less stress with DOT, spend less for insurance, registration etc. My brother is in CA and it sucks, almost everything is overprices and stupid regulation makes things even worse.
If you would need to start your business from scratch, where would you start it? And where you would never even think about it?
Most/least truck friendly states for O/O .

As far as rules and regulations, yeah cali is a bit of a pain, other jurisdictions have their issues too. If you can stay legal and do it how they want it is that not secondary to how you can most profitably run your operation? From a headquarters point of view (and I am no expert by any means), I'd probably choose a state with lots of trucking opportunity, as well as favorable taxes. There used to be a guy here who moved it from IL to TN apparently for better corporate state tax or something. If that is true the same as state income tax, I'd take a place like TN over say SD or WY. Keep in mind I pull a reefer, these areas are also good for business, for me, if I was a bull hauler and had the connections and probably grew up in SD/WY or similar, I'd probably want to setup and live in those areas. Like pretty much everything else in this industry, there isn't a one size fits all solution. Gotta figure out what works, FOR YOU.
