I had to chain up this morning to get over the mountains east of Butte, MT. I’d say it was 50/50 of truck running chains vs not. The one jackknifed truck I saw didn’t.

Hehehe. You said Butte. Because in my juvenile mind the “e” doesn’t exist.

Are people fined for not chaining up and getting stuck out there? I’ve never been in that part of the country.

Good. They should be. I wish I could be appointed to hand out fines at truck stops for parking lot and bathroom infractions. I would end up with carpal tunnel. But wouldn’t it be fun to get all the ####### fired up?!?!

A lot of trucks with singles on the drives.
    Triples are much better.
Singles in deeper hard pack snow just dig out under the tire with the chains, meanwhile the inner tire with no chain takes up more weight and just spins on the snow now ice.
