Here's another option I've seen but is getting more scrutiny all the time. I won't mention names or anything, but I know of shops willing to throw pre-emission engines in these late model trucks. You're looking at $65k, but to have a proven engine and decent support from a local independent shop may not be such a horrible deal. That's not the direction I'm going with my next truck, but I know of one guy that I work with that swapped to Detroit from an isx and another planning to do that with his paccar when the time comes. These newer trucks seem to be getting somewhat better, but the price tag to play the game is also getting ridiculous.

Maybe I am in the minority here but if what happened to you, would ever happen to me, I wouldn't find internal peace without teaching them a lesson. They would fix that truck for me! Besides, they can't just think that people would just let it go. Buying problems for $200 000 ?! I'd have them eat that truck before letting it go.
