    Feel free to PM me too. I’ve been trying to login at least once a day now that the thread is active again.

    I’ve done some long deadheads before, too. I’ve actually left my house in San Antonio after taking home time and been told to head to Grandview, Washington and “get there as quick as you can” - end quote. Tempe, AZ to McAllen and Florida back to McAllen were pretty common dead heads a few years ago. I’ve noticed a decline in the lengthy ones, but it still happens from time to time. They will always do that instead of letting a person sit.

    I am not too familiar with the names of folks that work in Winter Haven as I am usually only there long enough to throw my stuff in my car and haul tail home.

    If you were in a new truck turning left onto Dundee Rd from US 27 at about 10am Wednesday then I was the truck at the light. It looked like a test drive as there was a guy in the passenger seat which was notable as the only teams I have encountered were male/female couples.

    I forgot to mention that there is a way into the customer at the port of Newark if you find yourself there after hours and noone is answering the phone to open the gates. Of course I won't post it on a public forum.

    BTW, if you made it into and out of OJs unscathed you are doing very well considering you are new to food grade tanker. Luckily most other tankwashes are much easier to deal with.

    I won't go into the kinds of trouble I inadvertently caused my first time there. o_O

    Appreciate it. Luckily they had the trailer out side of the gate. Took me a min to find the bills but it worked out. Ojs was ok. I had to battle a prime driver for the last spot but I prevailed.

    Super positive feedback:
    This load was dispatched late. Was supposed to pick up the 24th, got dispatched on it in murfreesboro on the 25th. Woke up and grinded 10.75 hours to Newark, got the load. Next day grinded 10.95 hours to customer arriving 50 minutes after the original appt.

    I had called driver manager to tell her this was the case 4 hours before hand seeing the mountains were holding me up. She called ahead and ensured I could deliver. The company stated I had to deliver at night because they don't take juice during the day.

    I get here, they tell me they'll call me when ready. I putter to a spot and wait. I've got 10 minutes of drive time and 2 hours of on duty left. After an hour of waiting, they ignore me so I drive back up and tell them about my clock and need to at least hook up. So the guard tells me they won't take me at all. I was heart broken a little. I called night dispatch which was a useless measure.

    I texted the DM about it to see if she was awake and able to deal and she was. She got on the phone with the account manager. told me she's gonna make sure I get full detention pay even tho the load was dispatched late and held.me down. She could have ignored the text and dealt next morning. This is the stuff that counts.

    Late dispatched loads I don't bother calling dispatch to say it will be late. Night dispatch in Winter Haven is very limited, about the only time I call them is if I breakdown or if a load cannot be picked up or delivered and even then it is only so they can note it on the load screen and I can CMA. I don't ever expect them to have a solution to any particular issue simply because the decision makers aren't available to them late at night.

    That juice customer in Murfreesboro can be a nightmare. The guards can be hit or miss as some are on the ball and others seem to forget they have waiting trucks and don't let anyone else know. Very easy to be forgotten.

    I always expect long waits there. Morning appointments don't mean anything to them as they don't deal with juice until all their milk deliveries are complete which could be well into the evening, so why make morning appointments?. Split sleeper is a savior when going there, also parking on the street seems to be the norm if you don't have the hours to go anywhere. The little Pilot nearby is best avoided any time of day.

    Sorry the delivery is in Winchester KY. The Murfreesboro was a wait however I got from Newark to Winchester and I spoke to dm about it during the day telling her about it. The dm was upset because they told her I could deliver after the appt so when I called her and told her they wouldn't she was annoyed.

    I concur with everything in this post. I will say, for the last two or three years most of my load assignments have been dispatched on time, or, able to be picked up/delivered on time I guess is the best way to word it.

    Yoplait in Murfreesboro is the same exit as the Pilot and about a half mile around the corner from it. They allow overnight parking at that one. It’ll be a dairy load if you go there, probably originating in Laurel, MD. It’s a live unload unlike the juice plant mentioned earlier, but they’ll let you unhook it in the bay and pull outside if you want to.
