Using the logic of some people on rates, those that have truck/trailer payments deserve a higher rate than those that don't
Brokers offer transparency. Imagine that!

I am not sure how it works with real estate - I think they are not capped by law - but nationwide, the seller's cost of commission is between 5-6% of the sale price - to be split between the buyer's and seller's agents. The commission rate is pretty uniform nationwide and unchanging but guess what, with real estate transaction, unlike broker-carrier transaction, there's transparency.
With that to be our measure of what is justified or not , the acts usury or loan sharking serve those with no ability to save or manage money too - and therefore are just as noble. -
You want someone else to do all the sales/negotiation for you but limit what they can make. Pretty one sided.
Instead of complaining, expecting the government to hold your hand, go out and do your own sales. But wait, you only want to work when you want to, go where you want to, change how much you want hourly and would expect any customer to cater to your needs over theirs.Oxbow, Jubal Early Times and Siinman Thank this. -
I propose $3 plus fuel surcharge for anyone with a truck and trailer payment. $2.50 plus surcharge for anyone with a truck payment. $2 plus fuel surcharge for anyone with paid off equipment. Can’t be having anyone making too much profit, after all.
And for the record, the farming example was a terrible one. Commodity traders and the futures market pretty much dictate the daily market at any given time.kwswan, Oxbow, Jubal Early Times and 2 others Thank this. -
I am not to be capped, neither shipper is to be set the floor rate - they entitled to force me to work for food. But that should be between them and I. You as an intermediary, would be on commission - pretty much stable and uniform as in real estate - set by the market forces, mind you, had the transparency were in place. If I make a ton, you will get your fair share too. -
I would ad if you have multiple trucks/trailers, drivers(W-2), office staff an even higher rate.
Got to keep everything on a level field. At least according to some.
You know, fair share.Oxbow, Jubal Early Times, Long FLD and 1 other person Thank this. -
