Time will tell what is to be.And it will tell what the effects of this program will do to --all-- the companies, and to the drivers, new & old.
Personally, I don't want to be out there, especially after the hardships I went thru last year with Covenant.Constant harrasment over idling, taking on hazmat loads that did not pay,and some that were dropped at yards so I wouldn't get all the haz pay.:biggrin_25510:
I'll sell pencils on the corner instead of going thru that again.

I don't believe it has anything to do with safety, It is just like I have heard a few troopers say about the Traffic lights in towns now. they have shortened the time for the Yellow Caution so they can give more tickets. Now, let me ask you, Is that about Safety?

It's mostly about the money and has very little to do with safety.

fyi lots of people have cdl but do not drive. When i get off the road this year i'll keep my cdl forever. It's easier to keep it and deal with no recent experience later than to get it back after you lose the "feel" for backing a truck up..

dance694, i find that the 70 hour rule is more valuable than the 11. I used to cheat my 11 a bit to keep my 70 down.

My electronic logs log me as 3 or 4 when im in a traffic jam. it doesnt bother me that it hurts my 11 so much as that it hurts my 70..

CSA 2010: Improper loading, cargo, hazmat securement violation. Seem to just that.

Hazmat is a very dangers thang to hall. There will be points there but on the low end of thangs.

It seems that flat bedders will be hit the hardest on this violation points systems. Pretty much 10 points for anythang missed or tie down wrong.ect.

Now why is the driver driver the only one hear at fault. If you pick up a loaded trailor with rolls of paper. And down the road the dot said its loaded wrong. Even a sealed trailor. How are we to know how its loaded.

Tanker will be looked at to it seems. Any thang a miss, points. Still reading the csa 2010

Actually, I don't see the electronic log as an issue. I rarely run over 60 hours a week. Most weeks are spent in the 50 hour range.

But as I stated in an earlier post. We have a contract that requires us to sit for an undetermined amount of time at one receiver. There is absolutely NO WAY to get a truck unloaded in 2 hours. Unless you are the only one there, and that is no guarantee. They're open 24/7 and receive 24/7. No appointment needed.

The only way I have found to deal with this particular customer, call ahead and pray. Or get there between 1am and 3 am. Otherwise it is going to be a very long day/night.

It has gotten better... But you won't believe why. Their CB went out. :biggrin_2559: Now they have to call us individually. So we sleep in line now. Often for up to 10 hours LOL

I also stated earlier we have a NO split sleeper policy. I'm exempt from that policy. Although it took 6 months of ### chewings from the log dept, and 3 passed DOT inspections that validated I knew what I was doing with the split sleeper provision.

Electronic log or not. We deal with it as it comes. Those of us who cheat, will still cheat. Werner is a shining example of how to manipulate an electronic log, when the need arises.
