No, the 3rd paragraph does not support your argument. Which takes up more space - expanding a two lane road to a 4 lane road or putting in a si for lane roundabout?

These are on WI 33 between 41 and be aVer dam, 50 foot zoom level. Which is taking up more space? Bonus points if you look up how much of the land the state owns and maintains on either side of the road.

Why make the comparison to traffic lights? Because that's what most roundabouts are designed to replace. And why shouldn't we take into account congestion and convince? You're worried about tax base - cutting accidents cuts government spending which lowers the need for an increased tax base.

This monstrosity is in German town, so. The inspection used to be two lanes in each direction with a 4 way stop. Not enough space for the trucks to turn, most 4 wheelers struggled with the concept of right of way, it was a bad intersection. They widened it and added a stop light. It has done nothing to reduce accidents or congestion, cost more than the projected cost of installing a roundabout, and took more land.

Convenience and congestion are THE WHOLE POINT of roundabouts. I don't care what they cost. If we aren't paying taxes on one thing we're paying on another. I'll take roundabouts over stoplight cycles any day, especially in a truck.

People against them can live in the past all they like and enjoy their flip phones and pre ELD trucks but you can't argue the fact that at any stoplight anywhere people check their phones while waiting for a light to change. Then they still have their head in them when the light turns green and you are in a truck 4 cars back and lose your opportunity to make it through the light that you surely would've had if people were paying attention.

NO one pulls up to a roundabout and stops to check their phone but Idiot Citizen does at every stop light anymore.

Traffic count is what dictates if an intersection is 2 way stop, 4 way stop, or a light. Most roundabouts are put in place as traffic counts are approaching the need for a light.

"If another vehicle and a truck over 40 feet approach the roundabout at the same time," says Reignier, "even though that other vehicle may be on the left, and have the right-of-way in normal circumstances--now the larger vehicle has the right-of-way."

What if two semis take the roundabout at the same time?

According to this new law, the semi in the left lane has the right-of-way, and the truck on the right must yield."

The article contradicts itself, lol. No wonder everyone is cornfused!

Honestly i thought Wisconsin built round-a-bouts for my modestly e85 tuned Subaru Sti. Man its fun going around those at 80 when no one else is around. Good thing i got rid of that car or i wouldnt have a cdl to worry about round-a-bouts.

Hopefully at least one of the truck drivers would have enough common sense to not enter a roundabout next to another truck.

That is a HUGE problem, drivers - semi & cages - rarely look ahead, if it's not 20' in front of their hood, it isn't their concern.

What "all the real estate needed"?
Certainly the "real estate" was pasture or grassland or fields or ditches or a 4 way interchange with traffic signals owned by County or State, so how does "private ownership" apply?
How do you know roundabouts "are extremely expensive to install, and maintain"?
How do you "know" anything about Roundabouts?
You have a wreck in a roundabout?
How "expensive" is it to lay down Asphalt in a circle?
Do you know the different constructs used to build Roundabouts?
All Roundabouts Do Not Reflect All Roundabouts.

You DO HAVE CORROBORATING Evidence Yes??

Sometimes it's not so important to "make the light", just important to pay attention to ones' self or passengers.

Sometimes WEATHER plays a hand in who gets thru an intersection, IF/WHEN at all.

Sometimes "Time of Day/Night" means one may or not ever get thru an intersection because of the dumbo doughnutters that sealed up the transfer point.

Sometimes the ones that complain about what other Drivers are doing, are GUILTY of the same ACTIVITY.

Nothing in this post indicates my Innocence.
EVERYONE is guilty of some adverse traffic activity whether or not witnessed.
