I had that numerous times, over the years. Never a problem. I’m guessing, they flip the sign closed, but, forget the operating systems are still turned on. I wouldn’t worry about it.

It’s not really a dirty trick when they have giant signs that say bypassing the scale is photo enforced. It would be a different story if they didn’t tell anyone about it.

Except the sign said Closed, which any reasonable person would agree adds confusion.

I think he meant the "trick" of getting you to bypass when you weren't supposed to so they can send a ticket and generate revenue.

Man why does that sound familiar?

Long FLD and RunningAces Thank this.

Manchester TN scales approximately I-24 MM 114 (Super Coop) did this quite often years ago. They would close the station and leave PrePass on Red.

Just bypassed one on i5 south of Aurora Oregon a few minutes ago. They had trucks backed up onto the shoulder with an "open" light on. Nope, not sitting on the shoulder so you can verify my bond! Them Jackwagons put people in danger by backing up trucks onto the highway! I'm happy to pull through when the lights on and it's safe to do so but not when it's a danger to myself and others.

Ok, sorry I misunderstood. I thought you were only talking about them and the photo bypass. I agree that it would be pretty lowdown to ticket you if the sign said closed.

I use to get inspected, every Saturday, by the eastbound side. My employer was flagged. Despite knowing it was me, they still pulled me around. Nice guys, though.

Wonder if it has to do with registration/deposit for the miles tax Oregon has?

Don't know if it is still a thing...... Oregon issued pre-pass? Used to be an OR issued Pre-pass would work every where, stuff issued outside would not work in OR.

yes they can see your red light... what do you think the 3rd transponder is for...

And yes the closed sign overrides the prepass...

    Mattflat362 Thanks this.
