Well most of my paperwork is caught up now. I need to try and finish the dang taxes now. I think I am cutting this a little closer than I wanted to.

I am one of the higher spenders at the casino and have one of there cards that gives stuff away and what not. So Thursday they had a give away of prizes that was not to bad. So I go up and pick out my gifts ( Dyson Cordless Vacuum and Dyson Air filter Fan) I just bought one of those fans and it was like 300-400 bucks I think so not to bad of a deal. Usely they give out little knit knack things not worth going.

So of course I decided I would go mess around and play, had about 3K in cash from last time messing around and that was my limit. Hit a few lower jackpots of 1400, 1600, and a couple good ones of 2300 and 5757. Left with about 7K extra so not too bad for the night but did take a day off from doing paperwork, Ha Ha.

Taxes are done now time to see if I can find some kind of a load this week. Looked pretty sad when I looked at the boards this afternoon. Maybe get something before the weekend if I am lucky. I need to get my butt on the road and get some data on this trailer tail. Also I am thinking about adding that lift axle again even though it only lifts up 2 inches. It might be ok with some of the lighter runs I do, just not on the middle weight runs I could do on it. Was talking to a few people and they think it would be fine if I had 10K to 15K on axle without rubbing the tires. Some loads I do are pretty light or at least th multi drops would be able to use at the end of the last couple drops.

What kind of suspension do you have on your trailer? I had a lift put on a dry van and it was a waste of money. The tires would scuff on rough roads so I never used it. From memory I'm pretty sure mine were HKANT 40 axles.

Unless you have an air scale on the trailer replace the leveling valve with a regulator instead. Easy to gain another inch or two on the lift axle.

How does that work? I like the idea to gain some more height.

What kind of weight on axle did you try it on? Did your axles have shocks as well?

I ran empty a lot probably 40% and sometimes had 1 or 2 pallet loads that went 500 miles or however far. That's what it was for. Didn't work out so great on the sorry ### roads everywhere. Go over the slightest bridge joint that's out of align and they'll scuff good. Never mind all the moon craters that seem to be in every state these days. The smartlift spec'd vans and reefers have about 5 inches of lift. Mine only had 3. Never knew about the regulator trick. I thought there were bump stops inside the air bags that might could have been removed or some such but I never bothered with it. That trailer ended up parked a lot more than pulled and then sold.

I am not totally sold on it but if I can get another 1" from doing what wichris stated I would be pretty sold on it. I think most of the places I go would work but only trying it out myself would prove it be true or not. I would run cheaper tires on the lift axle like what I have on it now. Then buy some better fuel efficient tires like I used to have on it.

I dunno. Check with a Utility dealer. They can tell you if it is recommended or not to install a lift on that suspension. Maybe another inch would have helped mine. Maybe. I see Anderson, IN based Carter Express has lift axles on the front drive of their fleet of VNL Volvos. They lift 5 or 6 inches you can tell it's a lot higher than what my trailer did and I've looked at some of those up close and they scuff too. Maybe not a big deal for them i dunno. It sure did make me grind my teeth every time I saw them brand new Bridgestones all scuffed tho lol
