You raise or lower the nail.

I think that could be part of your problem. When you roll up a bunch of coax, the coax acts like an RF choke. Chokes usually aren't needed on a short run of coax in a mobile environment. If an RF choke isn't installed correctly, you can get mis-leading readings from the SWR meter.Last edited: Apr 18, 2023

Don't buy cheap truck stop coax, you won't be any better off than you are now. I would put that money towards something like RG 8x coax from Amazon or some place like that. When it comes to good coax, you want 95 to 97% shielding.

The clear rg8x road pro truck stop coax isn't too bad. It is double shielded. The connectors are the weak point. It will get you by until you can get better coax.

That's good to know....thanks. I would think there would be specs on the packaging to say what the percent of shielding is, but maybe not.

Could the power source not being properly stored cause high swr?

So I tested my other radio which is a cobra 29 and I'm reading 1.5 or less on all channels

Using same swr meter for both radios and not altering anything on my set up. Could this be because I'm testing on different frequencies?
