Suggestion: after you get your CDL--try getting on with the fleet recommended in post #10 above--first (that one's tough to beat--but they're picky).

If that one doesn't work out, here's a couple more to check into--they're hiring rookies now--they may (or may not) be when you finish CDL school:

McLane -- driver trainee -- home daily

    and

Yellow -- LTL linehaul -- accepts, trains beginners -- paid-for health insurance

With ANY of the above--you'll make A LOT more than you would with Schneider.

I am rethinking the Schnedier plan after further research. I would like something local and I have been looking at McLane or something else that might be less pay and labor but good experience. After a year I want to get my endorsements and find something local that pays well without physical labor and long/hard hours like McLane would have.

I've got signed up and all my info in to try and receive the WIOA program. Just need to make some further calls now. Thanks!

Plenty of local jobs even for drivers right out of cdl school.

Your strategy/perspective in post #12 above is ok--but...do keep in mind....for the foreseeable future--you will likely encounter slow freight (and flabby paychecks) if you don't choose wisely. :banghead:

As you look for employment--try to concentrate/focus more on jobs that are FOOD-RELATED. Those jobs will offer more consistent freight/shifts/schedules/loads....and thus more consistent pay. Also--you'll spend far less time being bored....:biggrin_25518:

Another suggestion: it will be easier to pick up those CDL endorsements when you first get your CDL--rather than having to come back later for them (and wishing you had gotten them earlier).
