Oh yea for sure. Mostly just rust though. This one is slightly different as well. There's several holes in the body where it's rusted right through.

Nothing but river water through it. Pumps water out of the river into the boilers to make steam for the turbine at a power plant.

 

Ah, okay. Most likely no pre-filtering other than a screen to keep large objects out.

What brand of tire y'all using for the 17.5"?

I had pretty good run with the HTL2 Continental's. Granted I'm just on a tandem spread step.. lol

At $530 a tire they weren't looking too good anymore.
Run some Cooper road masters. Not a fan.
Some Ironhead. Not a fan.

Got 4 Hankook TH31' I think on the rear axle now I kind of like? ~$350 tire, but only K speed rated (68mph)

 

I use Roadmaster RM272 245/70/17.5 to replace the OEM Michelins that came on the trailer. I run 70-75 if it's cooler out or I'm empty. As the temp/weight goes up I slow down and keep it around 60-65 max. Once outside Temps get close to 100 I'll slow down even more to 55-60 max. Heat is the biggest killer of these little things. The roadmasters are load range J and also say max speed of 68mph.

The Roadmasters tend be be available at most tire shops in my experience but I also carry at least 1 rimmed up spare at all times. Have a stack of new ones in the shop. I run them pretty hard though so I usually only get about a year out of them. Running near maxed weights on them while stretched out causes a lot of tread damage from sharp turns as well.

I think we bought like 20 of them last year before prices went up for about $280 each.

 

I'm actually on the 235/75r17.5.
No reason I couldn't switch to 245/70 for something better. The half inch height difference would be fine doing all 8 at the same time.

Had to think about it, but the 4 Roadmaster's I've still got on are RM170's Oddly enough they don't really look like the google images of them.?
The Roadmaster RM272's you mention seem to have a wider shoulder to help with the scrub..

Even though I'm never over 80k gross, I do unfortunately end up with 40k+ on the spread from time to time pulling 40' rebar, or rail, stuff in the 40' range loads the wagon "heavy"..

Personally I'm a believer in 125psi, & staying with the 68mph rating or slower. 62-67mph is my comfort zone. 32k lb or less on spread I'm not as concerned with speed..

Coming south into FL few weeks ago I had her backed down to 57mph. Was only about 85°f ambient, yet when I stopped couldn't keep my hand on the tires comfortably for more than a few seconds, & lots of rubber beads/dust was piled on the RM170's shoulder from deforming as they roll? Figured much faster they'd want to let go..

I'll check into the RM272. They "look" better than RM170 if the internet pics are accurate.
Again, only about 20k on the Hankook TH31's, but they seem decent thus far..

I do have a china bomb spare I've been toting around, but not on a rim. Better than nothing for now. Every random tire shop I've ever asked for a 17.5 looked at me like my fly was open.. lol

Picked up this house base for a PC2000 a few days ago. Heading to the proving ground in AZ

Cause of reasons ,, we had to disconnect, used a forklift and telehandler to get the deck under it (crane didn't bring counterweigh, so forklift got it on one end and crane in the other)

It was a very long and overly interesting day.

 

All we run is Michelins and yeah they are getting hard to find and hella expensive. I'm with Ryan on the heat and speed. If it's anything close to 90 I'm doing 50ish MPH.
