    Dope user: it's just a harmless weed. That is why I volunteer to throw away a good paying job/career to use it.

    Maybe you don't remember the 1970s and early 1980s before the cocaine wars when cocaine was routinely called harmless by respectable people. Then the increased use of cocaine started destroying lives of those respectable people, the various mafias started warring to control cocaine distribution and then crack cocaine destroyed even more neighborhoods. I lived through that era. It's not just an unreliable wikipedia article I'm referring to.

    It seems a common feature of man forever to seek intoxication, that doesn't support allowing it for people in safety-sensitive jobs. THC is detectable for a long time after use and dope smoker ignore that and throw away jobs. You cannot protect someone from their bad behavior, and the bubble wrap generation is not surpassing previous generations in competency, responsibility, etc. They whine more than anyone before them.
