Came out the house Monday like Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man, guns ablazing, than I hit yesterday, and now I'm on a babysitting load till Sunday morning,my motivation is shot.

Where do you guys come up with these ideas? While warranty only pays X amount, it pays on-time, every time. If you run into issues that takes more time, often times you can recoup that time as long as it's documented and backed up by pictures. As an hourly mechanic I didn't care whether it was a warranty job or a time and material job, I made the same amount either way. I think what happens a lot, I've seen it, is transient work gets back-burnered for longstanding local customers.

I worked at dealership and was shown the hourly rate is lower for warranty than non warranty…now that may vary by auto/truck maker but i saw it firsthand.

And God help me if one of these shops ordered a transmission for a warranty job from a place that wants the core back and I’m the one that has to go get it. Nobody ever has a clue.

Every OEM shop I ever worked at was paid on their published labor rate filed with the OEM and was only allowed to be adjusted on a scheduled basis.

I picked up 6 pallets of transmission cores at our local International dealer, thankfully they had a forklift and a dock to load up.

They were definitely a pia to move with my pallet jack.

If you’re familiar with those black pods, most of them are not pallet jack friendly. The one saving grace is that transmissions are obviously lighter than engines.

That was a nice trip to Roswell and back up, hadn’t been down that way in years. Little slow going back up to 40 though being Im grossing a little over 79k. Took them 4 hrs to load me, must have been fresh stuff to take that long.
