Try using a little ball of bread. Any kind. Roll it up and stick it on that little pointy thing where you put the bait.
Use a Victor Wooden Rat trap. Ive trapped lots of rats with that method.

Make a couple of the 5gal bucket traps.
Google will show a couple different ways. I use a piece of 1/4 inch rod instead of string or wire for the jar to rotate on.

Man go get ya something from the pound. Cats are like the easiest thing to raise......until they like you, then they're a pain in the ###.
But seriously dude, cats are free wheeling. Give it a couple of weeks and you'll be vermin free. Seriously.

But it's not the breed, it's the owners (insert eye roll)

It wasn't out of control at all, just cause the owner didn't want to touch it either.

My belief, It is always the owner.. We have owned many pit bulls .. Sure they would kill you if u broke in the house.. They were harmless otherwise because they were trianed properly... You could train a golden retriever to be a killer if you treat them like some people treat pitbulls...

What is the execution method after trapping? My grandpa used to have the metal type traps but we dont know what he did with them before he passed away.. I remeber as a kid trapping them then shooting them with pellet gun

Usually we added about 6" of antifreeze to the pail. We don't have rats up here but we've caught a few buckets of mice.
