I've worked on a 450. Was a sweet bike. Great 1st bike choice.

We'll see how it goes. Never ridden but always wanted to try it. Worst case scenario I find out riding isn't my thing then I'll sell it and try something else.

Minty plan for sure. That 450 is perfect. And you're not wasting fat stacks to try.
My sons XR200 goes for sale this weekend.
I'll use that cash to spruce up my XL185, and rebuild the diff in my wife's quad. The 185 I bought when I was 11. (34 years ago) Very much an old freind.
I'm a little big for it, but I need it out there because my daughter wants to start riding again and its perfect for her. She has been on a quad for 2 years. Her wrist is finally as good as it will get. She broke it in 4 places 2 years ago, and in 2 places the year before that. Me and her will share.
I'm hoping to find an XL350, 500 or 600 next year. All my dirt bikes have been antiques. It would be nice to have suspension, and umm brakes.

As a kid, I dreamed about a XR600. My Cr125 was fast, and fast to explode.

Think I'd settle for a 400 now just fine. The need for speed has slowed.

But apples to oranges, a 400 on the road is slow, a 400 in trees is fast! We might not have many hills, but lots of trees.

I've been really happy with my 250. I rode almost 2k km off road last year on it.
Passing it to my son so he doesn't spend fat stacks on a street bike while he's in university.
I had to regear it, 1st was wayyyy to tall.
I'm less about tight trails and flying through the air, but I think the back road logging roads, cutlines, and paths on my backroads map books are the best riding I've ever done.
Even my st1300 gets trailed. That pic was 7 miles up an old mining path to see an abandoned fairbanks morse engine in the bush.
They quad nerds all flinched when I honked my horn to gtfo the way.
The map book is significant. My morning ride consisted of a ride to gregg river cabin for the outhouse. Brown creek trails is where there is an abandoned, upsidedown ford tempo that has been shot many times. All and all 60km ride to complete a morning glory.

    I had a 70. We sold it when I was 16. I wish I still had it.
18 more operational days, 2 weeks of inspections and I'll be back there and I'll post some new pics.
It will be interesting to see whats left. There has been a ton of fires up here.
