If so, that generates data, the retail store to the distributor to the manufacturer all get the information.
I had an opportunity once to see the “Control Center” for Wally World. You would be surprised at how that place works. Flight control center Houston wishes it was that good.homeskillet, Dale thompson, Oxbow and 3 others Thank this. -

Had to mess with it some. Two sets of lat pull downs, well maybe 3 or 4 sets, and 99.9% of the pain is gone from my back and shoulders.
The OM is pleased.homeskillet, JolliRoger, InTooDeep and 8 others Thank this. -

Here is another little bit of information.
Depending on the store, if you have Bluetooth or WiFi turned on, you will be tracked in the store.

It comes down to Fads and Trends and computer modeling.
Fads move very quickly, are hard to predict and fade away just as fast as they come. Usually by the time a big box retailer gets on the market, the fad has passed in the hot markets. Hopefully there will be some pockets where the top of the wave has not hit and you can off the product in that place, otherwise the stock will be sold at huge discount or sold to close out deep discount stores.
Trends build slowly and tend to last for some time, years. Take the color grey, this has been around for quite awhile. Go into a store selling home decor, you will see lots of grey products. This trend is starting to fade, only took 8 to 10 years.
Computer modeling and analysis plays another big role. Looking back at historical data of product categories and the various sub groups within, models try to predict what would be in demand. That’s why you see spring items in stores in February. Lately these models have been very wrong. The last few years product demand has not matched normal cycles.homeskillet, InTooDeep, Feedman and 6 others Thank this. -
