The old Horseshoe Bend hill on 55 was not quite as bad many moons ago, but there was a great deal of carnage

 

I’ve never been on 55. Even after they opened it up on the offtrack we all just kept running 95 because it was faster.

 

Even these days you want to have plenty of time when you venture into the interior of the Ho

 

Before they rebuilt the Lewiston and Whitebird grades in the 70s the old roads were probably safer than the new. With all the switchbacks you really couldn't get going fast enough to worry about brakes.

 

yes an awesome trip i did that route for 2 years never got tired of it winter and summer hauling up to the big mines by clayton also liked the day when the topless bike riders on the river road

 

Dang @Big Road Skateboard , I failed to mention that there is no cell phone service to speak of from about 10 miles out of Challis, to Stanley. Guess you figured that out by now!

 

Where’d you end up today? Looked for a truck with a scooter on it when I went by the TO and didn’t see anything resembling your rig
