None did. You can get by on it but guess who's gonna retire? It ain't gonna be anybody living off spot freight driving a truck. The broker will, financed by the hard work of a trucker...

The dedicated account I managed. The contract mileage rate was at a minimum of $4.02 a mile plus FSC to $4.47 plus FSC depending on met performance metrics. Plus accessorial's were billed out.TheLoadOut and Siinman Thank this.

Somewhere there’s a guy leased on to prime thinking they’re making it. Putting in the miles. Sucker.
Some where there’s a guy putting extra effort and making it. Doing what others cry about. I got respect for them.
Then there’s the drivers somewhere in the middle. Just trying to make it work and take care of their families. They’re the ones that I feel for. Do the math, if it don’t add up… things got to change.Magoo1968, TheLoadOut, Old_n_gray and 3 others Thank this. -
A whopping $25TheLoadOut, Opus, dwells40 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sorry Dave, no luck going to Vegas. Yet. Called today on a load out of omaha going to riverside sweetheart wants 100% no holes in the 8 foot tarps paying 2.08... not to mention my 177 mile deadhead, then my big bad wolf carrier takes $17%... not even canned soup money 8 foot tarps been stored away for 2 years anyhow. Once they start talking claims at $2.08 it's a run for my life load, wouldn’t entertain the idea... sadly it was gone in 10 minutes...
ATS had a omaha to Ohio paying a whopping $1.54... ya missed that one 2.
I'm a sitting duck. Shoot me!!!dwells40, Siinman, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -

If your doing 30% direct and 70% spot... what gives?

My 30% makes up. Still working on picking up some difficult opportunities to make it work together. Hasn’t been easy. It takes thick skin and I still got more to improve on.

Yea, my competitor has more trailers and some motivated guys! Nothing new to a lil mom and pop starting out, trying to out compete. All I can do is be a little cheaper, reliable, and as professional as I can. They seem to have a decent hold on things as far I can see. Basically, my plan is no great secret. I seek the most pain in the butt work that other carriers don’t want any thing to do with. I don’t mind it as I don’t like easy tasks anyway. I feel like I would be wasting my life away by just doing simple tasks. At times I wish I was still doing Bomb disposal, but that’s a impossibility.
