People have told me that, but see when I do that I have to turn my squelch up more to shut it up and then I just don’t hear nobody near me ?? Or at least it seems like that

Like my objective, here is to be able to hear the people riding beside me without having to listen to static, that’s gonna make me go psychotic

That's the way it works. If the guys talking bothers you, I just turn the volume down or turn the radio off. You just have to remember to turn the radio back up or on later.

No, I’m not talking about the people talking I’m talking about the static I don’t want to listen to static just to be able to hear the person beside me

Oh okay, well I just turn the squelch up till the static quits. Then if I see the meters needle showing a strong signal, I just turn the squelch down to hear them.

    Brianjr323 Thanks this.

Also I forgot to mention that you need to change your anl switch to anl/nb to see if that helps with the static. Sometimes it will.

Well those settings are suppose to cut down on electrical noise getting into the radios receiver circuits. If you turn that switch to off, you should hear an increase in noise through the speaker. With the squelch turned clear down and nobody talking.

Oh, so switch them when somebody’s talking and I hear static? Because they don’t seem to do anything when I’m just driving and I hear random static.

and another question so if I keep my squelch right at the point before I start hearing static, but I see the needles moving that means somebody right near me is talking right?
