I would bet that your "non-recourse" agreement is only in effect if the broker files BK. That's how most of them read.

Hiring a private attorney, was this interstate or intrastate load? Interstate can, and 'm sure Amazon would, move to federal. Would only collect
actual freight cost, not attorney fee's. Been there, done that a few times.

A claim can be filed up to 9 months.

There are some times contractual limitations around filing claims for concealed damages, but Wichris is right, typically 9 months for claims.

I'd love to give you insight regarding factoring companies, unfortunately I have almost zero experience dealing with them as a carrier.

Regarding going after Amazon, I think if you stick to just filing a demand letter and avoid court you would be fine (and likely Amazon would just settle anyway), but just my two cents, you'd probably want to avoid fighting it in court. If they decide to go that route it could cost you and arm and a leg.

Couldn't tell you anything about the factoring company's terms and conditions. My only experience with factoring companies is verifying agreed on rates. Sorry, man.

I would say that tilting at Amazon is like tilting at windmills; if you've got the money and time, go for it, I guess- but I wouldn't hold my breath.

It sounds like @wichris is probably your best resource here for this- it's not really my wheel house.

Most likely King Heaven is a trucking company that got loads from Amazon Relay then just brokered them to you

So the real broker/shipper would be Amazon Logistics?

Well I reckon that is the best possible scenario if I want to get paid.

Next time when you work with brokers who's MC starts with one, you might wanna double check things. I am pretty sure Amazon wouldn't hire a broker that has a place of business that looks like this. I am surprised your Factoring company approved them

Right, they have a trucking company something like "Abc Express", get a load from someone then broker it out under King Heaven name.
A lot of Landstar double brokers operate the same way. Nobody gives loads to Landstar anymore, so people would book under "Joe Express" and rebroker under Landstar. Makes it look more legit for other carriers
