Thanks for the update now that you're out there. The sleep issues are my number one concern about the teaming idea for me. That and my wife's driving abilities. It doesn't look like we're going to team ourselves at this point.

Can you link to that headset product? I always wanted something like that when my wife spotted for me.

    Nahbrown Thanks this.

Smoothest ride out there is Volvo. I know, I've driven every model except Mack & Western Star.

I teamed for 6 months and getting used to sleeping in a moving truck never came to me. The only little tip I can give is get a memory foam mattress custom fitted for the bed of the truck. It is a night and day difference. That old commercial where they drop a bowling ball next to a glass of wine on a mattress and the wine doesn’t spill, that’s what you’re going for. Everything can move and you just float right on the mattress. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it in my opinion. Best of luck!

This one rode pretty good. I didn't have to sleep in it while moving though.

One thing I don’t have to worry about is my wife’s driving, Id say she’s a better driver than me. We had to make a hard right turn at a 4 way stop and she buttoned out far and stopped in front of a car waiting to turn in the on coming lane… the guy finally got the idea that no one was going anywhere until he backed up so he backed up 20ft and she continued her turn as calm as could be. She wasn’t going over the curb and calmly executed it. Highway driving seems natural to her as well.

the headsets aren’t cheap but they made life so much better and kept us from being one of the the screaming couples every stops to watch while pulling into a marina. Their range is fantastic and we hear each other clearly from the back of a 53 trailer to the cab.

Congratulations and good luck! May take a month or more to get used to sleeping when the truck is moving.

    Siinman Thanks this.

With my mindset, I've always said (to myself) if you're tired and I mean tired, you can sleep anywhere ! I would suggest catching a nap when at the shipper/consignee. You both don't need to handle the duties, just 1 of you. Even fueling. An exception might be a flatbed load. I've said this many times, a really well oiled team can actually park the truck for 4 hours nightly and catch 4 hrs with the truck not beating down the highway. Or 1 can shower while the other is fueling. (works good at 3 am) Since you're married, you already know each other well and each other's personalities, right ? 10 yrs from now, you'll each laugh when telling truck driver stories to your grand kids ! Now get out there, you've got 1000 mi to cover today !:bootyshake:

Trucking is hard enough, running team is insane. I ran team for six months, was lucky to average 3 or 4 hours of decent sleep a night. Day after day, week after week, and month after month it added up. I didn’t feel like I was safe anymore, constantly exhausted, and my mental and physical health suffered. Not worth it to me.

Does that product contain two headsets or just one?

Just one in each package, that’s why I said they were expensive. The good news is that they are worth the price because they perform very well.
