Nope... Simple math. Buy $1.00, suggested sell at $1.55. Progressive dealer on the grow and expanding; buy at $1.00 and sell at $1.85.

Mark up is complicated as hell for the uninitiated in math. Take my poor efforts when we started. Was advised to make money, had to mark the parts up from purchase price, just labor would not make it. So; simple us, we paid $1.00 and billed it at $2.00, figuring 2% was reasonable. Just starting and mostly tune ups, belts, hoses, small stuff. I was multiplying on a TX Instrument hand held when one of the partner said we should buy a calculator, as we were making a little money and I should get one.
About that time we had to buy a hydraulic pump for nearly $600.00. I had just got the calculator. Mental calcs said this would not stand $1,200.00 pricing....
So I went to a parts house we used (bearings) and having a good relationship just asked him for some advise on billing. He said they were using 1.33. So I tried that on the pump pricing and was sure glad we had found this out. $1,200.00 or $798.00...
It was difficult in 1979 with 3 tool boxes, a welder, and an air compressor to just do business. I have copies of the first RO and the check that paid it.

My nose doesn’t work that great. The entire night I thought I smelled melting plastic. Turns out it was that wild fire smoke. Not sure why it smelled like that to me.
