Strobe mounting location on Condo Sleeper!

GA and NV are the only states that require a permit. They have nothing to do with each other. Both of them are $2 per year. GA gives you a sticker. NV just gives you a piece of paper you keep with your truck paperwork. Doesnt matter where your truck is registered you are supposed to have the permits if you are running warning lights in those states.

You don't need the permit if you don't have the lights on.

Don't think so. There's an application to fill out and mail in on the GA DPS website.

Amber Light Permit

When you fill it out make a copy before mailing it in. That works as a temporary permit until you get the sticker if you need to go into GA on short notice.

I usually don't put the sticker on until I get something OS going through GA. Even then I forget half the time. I've never been asked about it even when I didn't have the sticker on. I'm just picky about unnecessary stickers on my truck though.

 

I found a local place that order in SoundOff Signal emergency vehicle lights.

They are pricey ( $150 / light ) but dear lord are they bright.

They go back and forth between orange and white but the fronts only do orange.

I took a picture of just 1 on the front while installing but I have lights in all 4 corners.

This was a few years ago, but there used to be a way around Nevada's permit, and I think this loophole has been closed, but years ago if you had a clear light that flashed amber you didn't need one ... I know that sounds stupid, but it was with how they wrote the old rule. Think they revised the definitions / statutes by now.

Either way we have both NV and GAs permits so oh well.

 

Condos aren’t 13’6” tall. There’s room for a light right on top as long as it’s somewhat low profile.

 

I’ve started putting all my stickers on a clear piece of plastic and cut them out. then neatly tape them to the windshield as needed. That way when I break my windshield I don’t have to get all new ones.

 

The one time I measured my first condo when pulling a flatbed I found out the pipe which is just higher than the condo, was at 13'4". Close enough to know if it's over the pipe, it's ALMOST oversize.

 

A cheap pack of cd cases will supply those clear plastic sheets
