I don't mind fireworks. I don't even mind the midnight fireworks. That makes sense.
But at 2am? It's July 5th. Ain't even a holiday anymore. Let us old folks sleep.MidWest_MacDaddy, Lonesome, Rugerfan and 2 others Thank this. -
Delivered in Tennessee yesterday day morning, than they deadheaded me up to Wytheville.Get up to Wytheville nothing, get a call from Richmond wanna take a Florida home and deliver Monday,4 days on a 700 mile run.I asked them see what else, sent me a list of 4 loads, all delivering Sunday, going a handful of miles up the the way.
I decided before last month to give abilene till the end of summer either way,to see if things would pu,and that's what I'm sticking to.dwells40, jarhead0311, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
Unloaded Monday in Dublin, Ga at best buy then parked for a 34 at the Loves down road. Finished my 34 Wed then sent to Kellogg’s in Newnan, Ga for a D&H dropping in Richmond then Petersburg to Groveport which I dropped this morning. Did my civic duty and helped a brand new lady driver that obviously wasn’t trained very well before being released back into her spot in Groveport. She had two open spaces next to each other and had to back into the one with a trailer on her blindside. I had the same kind of spot and she saw me back mine in pretty quick and asked for help so i coached her best I could and got her in. Somebody taught her some weird stuff backing wise….she wondered how I got in my spot so quickly and told her it comes with experience and that I got 19 yrs in various capacities. This industry is doomed with all the improper training and what not…,

My mom has late stage alzheimers. She's taken a serious turn for the worse over the past couple of days, and they're not giving her too much more time to be on this earth.
She lives in Shreveport, LA, which is not on any of our major freight lanes. I know we don't get down there often. We don't even get through there often, because if we run to, say, Dallas, we'll run 40 to Little Rock then 30 to Dallas. So I called my DM and asked if he could just keep an eye out for anything going that way, so I can say goodbye.
About the only possible freight we could have running out of Richmond to Shreveport would be Hill-Phoenix, and that's only if there are grocery stores in or around Shreveport that are under construction or being remodeled. So I wasn't expecting much.
My DM is moving heaven and earth to get me down there. They've already found a load that will get me as far as Memphis, and from there he's going to work with the regional load planner to get me as close to Shreveport as possible.
As much as we gripe and complain about Abilene, this is one area where they're solid gold.4mer trucker, MidWest_MacDaddy, hotrod1653 and 7 others Thank this.
