First and foremost, this was a stupid move.

Don't let anyone in the truck who isn't authorized to be there, let alone drive the thing. He should be paying your bills for this crap and not getting his CDL.

Second how many companies have you applied to?

    5, 7, 10, 30, 50?

I am thinking you applied to maybe three or four and that's it.

Apply to as many as you can.

One will give you a chance.

Third, as mentioned, did you actually see what the hireright crap said?

If not do so and post it here, we are all interested.

Many companies don't use that service but who cares if they do, many will ignore the report itself.

Yeah that sucks for a felon but believe it or not many of them guys are honestly trying to turn a page in their life starting new. Sometimes a person in that situation will go above and beyond ending up being the best employee ever. Sometimes not, but everybody deserves a second chance to show what they can do.

Well pal, I see it a bit different. It's a giant middle finger to those of us that "did it by the book". We live in a "no consequence" society today. Grandma always said, " in some cases, a lie well stuck to, is better than the truth". Again, we don't know what the arrest was for, but doesn't matter, a felony arrest is unacceptable, when "good" people, like these folks here, can't land a job for what I consider a stupid firing. Is the felon going to be better?. 2 job openings, 3 applicants. A retired LEO, a retired military, or a felon? Who should get the jobs? The "felon" doesn't think they did anything wrong and should "pay" for their actions, FOR EVER! Too harsh? Maybe, but that's how I was raised, and dad or, more accurately, life didn't raise an idiot.

I agree, what I have not seen mentioned here is the insane amount of financial liability the company had when you let someone unregistered drive the commercial vehicle. Everyone #####es amount cameras but the only reason the industry does push them is because people have proven that a number of them cannot be trusted to follow very simple rules. If an accident had occurred while the unregistered person was driving the truck the trucking company would be facing a huge payout.

hmm...I'm gonna piss some off but.... first thing - my conviction come from fighting back 1990 with a golf club and getting charged with assault with a deadly weapon, which i plead no contest to on advice from a public defender which in retrospect was a bad idea. I was young ,dumb ,and had and have a real issue with disrespect which has caused problems sometimes , so before you all start using a broad brush ( Classing a felon as a bad person) , maybe find out what it was before deciding would be a better idea . (conviction of possession of pot in CA in the 80's and 90's ended up giving you a felony which was stupid) . Any ways enuf of that, my wife , kids and grand kids and my employer and all friends know I've done good and that's what matters . As t0 these two that messed up ,yep, now your gonna have to try real hard to find another company or go out solo , and if your into hauling fuel (hazmat endorsed) then shoot me a message and i'll give you a heads up to a few.

I'm not saying felons are bad people NOW, but I was raised to obey the laws, and sure, I was tempted by actions that may have resulted in a felony conviction, but I knew enough, that it could have lasting ramifications for a long time. Some cases of felonies are, drunk driving, assault, burglary, manslaughter, things I never allowed myself to get into, and was never "lured by easy money", where most felonies occur.
I agree too, these regs today are accumulation of all the shenanigans we initiated, and simply, drivers can't be trusted, requiring cameras. What's ironic in this case, I can't believe these people didn't think of the camera, but shows the mindset, I suppose.

The fellon would have a better chance at me considering him than would someone that let an unauthorized operator behind the wheel!
