It's literally minimum wage. You're better off staying off-duty and saving your hours for when you're rolling and making more money.

So today’s truck’n adventure started at 0545 with a call from the driver, who has not grasped the use of the English language yet, of a load of rebar that was expected to show up at 0830 wanting directions to the job— I failed at making him aware that he was about a 1000 yards from his destination and that I would be another 45 minutes getting to him— he rattled off some piglatin term for white boy honky MF’er far as I could internet, but he was friendly enough when I got there. Dave would have loved the Multi colored FLD Classic and the trailer with the separated caps and …—anyway, dude unstraps, rolls up and is ready to rumble before the forklift is fully warmed up and I am able to finish my coffee— he’s up on the trailer flagging me with old school signals that mean something and we’re F’n done in about 40 minutes— and he’s got his paperwork organized to the tee wishes me a good day and is gone in a cloud of dust before I could ask him if he wanted a new job—- some people’s kids
